Place of Weeping: Place of Weeping; When a laborer asks for a raise, Tokkie, a white South African farm owner, beats him to death. Gracie, also in Tokkie's employ, is embittered by the unjust conditions that prevail. She finds the courage to speak out on behalf of her people, but is punished. Four renegades who are waging a violent war against landowners in the area, abduct Gracie. They want to kill Tokkie, but she doesn't want to pursue justice with violence. A white reporter comes to town and supports Gracie's efforts. He approaches the state prosecutor to report the murder and is assaulted by Tokkie. When Tokkie goes to town with his family, he, in turn, is ambushed by the renegades, and the cycle of violence in South Africa continues.
